Reedsport High hosted the invitational, held at Winchester Bay, OR. The "open" race was 4K and had middle schoolers, JV and anyone else interested in running in it. The fastest racer finished in 14 something.
Following the "open" was the girls race. The 5K course was part road, part trail and part sand dune. Our two girls are on the far left.
After a false start, the fastest girl (not from our school), finished in 21:XX .
Then the boys lined up and the coach and I called to them right before the starts to have them remove the Tshirts they were wearing underneath their singlets! It was warming up and a spectacular day there.
The boys took their turn and the first place finisher (again, not our school) crossed the line in 17:XX. Not bad, considering the sand dune part! It's a S L O W course, but our team has plenty of room for improvement.
I was proud of their efforts and can't wait to see how they do in the next 5K today in Coos Bay, OR and again in the 10K Prefontaine Memorial this Saturday!

After the meet, I took my kids to the beach where we played for a few hours before heading home. It was just a spectacular day for being at the coast, with temps in the low 70's and sunshine and some wind for kite flying.
Sadly, my husband couldn't make it due to work, but we are working on him. Next time!
My oldest found a beach "cave" under some driftwood ^
The baby found some sand ^ :) in his diaper too....! Haha!!!
The middle son built a "fake fire" ^ and wanted me to go home to get some hotdogs. Pretend wooden ones would not do! :))
The baby again ^. Isn't he cute! ?!
The older boys making a sea salad ^ Hold the sea cucumbers! ^
Look mom! I found a jellyfish! ^
Wind & sunshine= wild hair day!
And this is what I do with my retired soldiers ^ !
It was perfect wear-out play session for all of us before we headed home from our busy day & getaway. :))
