| It's a good day around here when you get to spend it chasing the kids around the library, but it is GREAT when you find MAIL from another blogger at your post office box! | ||||
| Ana Maria @ Running, Tri-ing and Living sent me a package for beating her prediction time for me. She had guessed I would finish in 3:30 at Boston, and I did just a bit better than that. Thanks AM!! You are AWESOME!! In the package: recovery socks, 2 Gu gels, two packs of Recovery e21- (an electrolyte capsule), and a kind note. She is a very talented runner (sub 1:30 half marathon talented!) and an aspiring triathlete. Check out her blog! *** Giving some serious thought to a 10K on the 4th of July. The Butte to Butte has a fun history as a larger race for our area, and there will be many fast runners there. I have no idea where I could be speed-wise at that date (I haven't been doing any speed work), so for now it would be there as a "motivational" race. Something to get me charged up again for racing. I could run my tail off, get sprayed by neighborhood hoses on a hot day, enjoy a slice of watermelon at the finish, and have absolutely ZERO pressure to get an award :). That's not usually how I roll....but it's sounding kind of good right now! | ||||

Butte to Butte sounds like fun, just what you need to start out the summer!
ReplyDeletesounds like a great one! I was just thinking yesterday that I need a 'motivational' race to get me fired up again. What a sweet gift!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great plan!!! Sometimes those nice local races are best run with no pressure...and sometimes you wind up doing amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the loot! The 10k sounds like the perfect summer race.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fun way to kick off racing again! - Beth @swimbikerundc (don't know why this is anonomous)
ReplyDeleteScore on the loot, wow! Very nice!!!
ReplyDeleteI think you just run your tail off, get an award, and then enjoy the watermelon and post-race festivities! :)
I'm thinking of doing Butte to Butte this year. I've always been out of town on 4th of July and this year I'll get back in late on the 3rd... it sounds like a really fun race.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun race. We are going to have a neighborhood block party on the 4th. I don't even know if there are any races that weekend that I want to do. I need to start REALLY focusing on getting up to full speed on the Portland race in October.
ReplyDeleteI say Do It! I did it last year and had a great time. I couldn't believe how hot it got, but I didn't care. I think at the time that was the largest race I had ever been a part of, so it left a lasting memory!
ReplyDeleteI'm still toying with the idea of doing it. I haven't registered yet, figured I'd decide after next month's half marathon.
I feel like i have heard of Butte to Butte! HMMM!!! How exciting :) What a lovely gift from Ana Maria :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Memorial Day!
Sounds like fun Raina!! gooooo for it! I nice change from 26.2! ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the stuff. I love those recovery socks. I wore them every single day at work this winter! I say go for the 10K. Why not? I think you may surprise yourself. You strike me as someone who could do really well at all distances. I hope the race is early in the am though. I had a 10 miler this afternoon in 80degrees and humidity and I had zero speed...blah! Are you doing a fall marathon?
ReplyDeleteI've read about Butte to Butte, best wishes ... have fun!
ReplyDeleteDO IT DO IT DO IT!!!!!! Umm - no pressure here now! Hey, I know, You could run a 10k on Sunday under my name for free! Not supposed to be hot;)
ReplyDeleteFinishing 2@ 7mm and body cooperating. Looking good:) Seriously can't wait for you to race again!
Do it! And You will mostly likely do it FAST! Ha! Jenn makes me laugh because I would gladly have you run under my name! We'd all be honored.
ReplyDeleteLove Ana Maria! Couldn't say enough good things about her! So much knowledge! So glad I caught this post before I was to far behind! :) I'm getting better at keeping up.
Hey, what do you have to say about how many GU packets I should take in the marathon? And do you use GU Roctane? So many things I am just now thinking about.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun race to me! And I think you would surprise yourself with how much speed you still have. You should do it!
ReplyDeleteA very nice present from Ana Maria.
ReplyDeleteDo the 10 k on the 4th of July!
so, i know i've been gone, like forever....but i'm working on getting all caught up.
ReplyDeletehow do you like that new roctane flavor? or have you tried it yet? i keep eyeing it, but i haven't actually tested it out...
