I have so many things to be grateful for right now. Here are a few:
- A great relationship with my in-laws. They are really wonderful people. My children are blessed to have such wonderful grandparents.
- My body. It is holding up! Very well, actually, considering what I have been putting it through recently.
- I am glad to have my writing outlet, and the freedom to write about anything I choose to! It was refreshing to write about someone besides myself in my last post. I like to research, and was looking for an inspiring charity runner to spotlight, when I found Robbin- a handcyclist with a passion to make a difference.
- A patient husband. He is more patient than I deserve. Truly, truly.
- Pretzels. I could eat pretzels and chocolate morning, noon and night. (with something to wash them down)
- My hubby and I have started going to a new Bible study. It's called Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ. We are taking the Word and picking it apart line by line. I am learning some new stuff!
- Also, grateful for spontaneous lesson days. Nathan and I have a new home school game. He gets dressed up in his batman outfit and climbs onto my bed. I give him math problems, or phonics flash cards. If he can give the right fact or sound, he gets to FLY off the bed. :) Works out the energy too!
- Friends. They are the best!
OMG, I love the Nathan teaching games. Very clever! And such reinforcement for him. So happy things are going so well for you, Raina!
ReplyDeleteWe go a bit faster with drills, but this is the frosting on the cupcake. :)
DeleteGreat list. We do need to slow down and be thankful for all things.
ReplyDeleteThanks Thomas! Your post was also a good reminder of this.
DeletePretzels and Chocolate! Amen sister!! I love that you have a good relationship with your in-laws. You don't hear that often enough.
ReplyDeleteCarbs, carbs :) They (ILs) are the best.
DeleteThat's a great list. Sounds like life is treating you very well these days.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael!
DeleteGreat list here friend. So much to be thankful for. I did read your last post although I didn't comment...great story. Thanks for writing about it. Love your Nathan games...such a fun mom. Hope you enjoy your Bible Study together. Okay, time is up,..kids a callin'. xo
ReplyDeleteThere's a novel reward for learning. Fun! Lots to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteYes, LOTS. :)
DeleteChocolate covered pretzels are the best! I also love yogurt covered pretzels.
ReplyDeleteThis is list is making me think about all the thankful things that I have.
Chocolate with anything is pretty good!
DeleteSuch a good list. I also have a good relationship with my in laws and they are technically my ex-inlaws. It is so good for the kids. I love the visual of your son flying out of bed when he gets the right answer!
ReplyDeleteIt is SO nice you still get along with your ex-inlaws. Your kids will appreciate it!
DeleteIts nice that you think of all your blessings. It is so easy for us to focus on the negative things. I am excited about your new bible study.
ReplyDeleteYou are right! Thanks Kepa.
DeleteLove gratitude lists! This is a good one Raina! Yes, so much to be grateful for. Your spontaneous lesson plan with Nathan is awesome! Thought about you a ton on my run last night. Something I'm grateful for-having Raina to think about:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for thinking of me, Jenn. :)
DeleteWell put. I needed to read a post like this after the week I am experiencing. Thanks

My Running Shortz
It could be a whole other level of FUN in with 20 1st graders! LOL
DeleteSo much to be thankful for! I've been learning this last year not to take my body for granted either. And sounds like a great b-study, I'm always amazed at how much more there is to learn!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you and that things are going well :). I love the new game you and Nathan do...Superman loves to fly, what incentive to make him do so!!!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you too! I am sure you have had a few superman moments with the twins :)
DeleteLove this list! Your Bible study sounds great! It amazes me that, no matter how often I read certain sections of Scripture, I always see something I didn't before.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Jen. I am amazed at the new things I learn, I think that's why I enjoy a group study- discussion.
DeleteHappy stuff...love it, and I love your positivity. :) I'm guessing your husband finds himself pretty blessed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate!
DeleteHa! Of course we would get a long well :)
ReplyDeleteFirm foundations is a Bible study that is Q and A based with group discussion. The questions seem pretty simple, until you really start to answer them. For instance, "If God only commanded Adam not to eat the fruit from the Tree of Knowlege of Good and Evil, what would have happened if Eve had been to only one to eat it?" It makes some good discussion.
great list! you definitely have so many things to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for my body...it never fails me!
I hope you're having a great week!
xoxo!
Thanks Lizzy! Happy to have found your blog :)
DeleteYou do have a lot to be thankful for. I love the batman idea to combine learning and fun :-)

ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, pretzels are a must-have at ALL times!!
Salt...I need more SALT. :) Hope your day is going well, Adrienne.
DeleteIn the future, if not already so, your kids will say that you and Jon are wonderful parents. I am proud of the love and caring you both give them. Carry on.
ReplyDeleteDang. I never would have flunked intermediate accounting If they'd let me wear a Batman costume to class. You are a genius!
ReplyDeleteAnd I would have finished my Senior year math!
DeleteI need to write these more...I am always counting my blessings but there is something about writing them doen that helps us reflect.
ReplyDeleteI will takethe chocolate but no pretzels.
Your training is going amazing.
miss you friend.....hope you come to portland soon.

Writing it out is good for the soul. Miss you too!
DeleteThanks for this post! It reminds me to do the same. Yes, we have lots of strict running rules in SA. I will post about it. You can only where "official sponsor" logos and then only if approved by the athletics body.
ReplyDeleteI will look for that post :) SA seems pretty strict!
DeleteLOVE your gratitude list!! Have you read One thousand gifts? I keep meaning to start a blessings journal. Thanks for all the support you give me. Looking forward to seeing you at a Race this year!
