It's been a few years since I've been here, and the last time I came (the only other time), was for my second marathon in 2011.
I didn't expect to come back to Boston for running again, but
the opportunity was too good to say no to! (Unless my husband objected.. but, thankfully he knows me and how excited I am for a chance to travel and run someplace different.)
While the trails and backroads of home have a lot to offer, I will enjoy meeting some new friends and seeing some new sights. I've been to Boston proper, but never to the end of Cape Cod, which is where the relay finishes.
The views are supposed to be stunning.. And the weather is looking good!
Tomorrow is the kickoff party, held at Reebok headquarters.
To be honest, I haven't worn a Reebok shoe since the year "flash dance" came out. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of road and trail shoes Reebok makes these days, not to mention apparel!
I've got no idea about who else is on my team, just that it is a Reebok team, and I'm in a van with other women.
Also, I'm not sure what to expect from my relay game, since I ran 24 miles on trails Sunday and climbed 10k feet last week during my 50k training peak. No time like a relay to do a little speedwork.
You can be sure I left my kids in good hands, and I'm very appreciative of my in laws, husband and parents all doing extra "boy time" while I go run my heart out.
Here's to flying by the seat of your pants!
Cheers!!

ReplyDeleteI enjoy travelling to races, especially when you can combine it with a small holiday, racing early in the stay then relaxing.
Haha! Thanks Ewen! You must be speaking of my Twitter photo? That one was from a different team at reebok. But we were all decorating with the same supplies in the parking lot. It was a lot of fun to watch people's creativity coming out !
DeleteHow cool! Hope you're having a blast!!
