There is little chance for it to become a running gear clearing-house here. (Sorry if that disappoints anyone!).
Today I celebrate my FIRST giveaway! Why? Because I am usually selfish and want to keep my good stuff!! Why else? Because I was given a chance to share something WORTH your time.
What is it?
The Yaktrax Run is an ice traction device anatomically designed for use with running shoes. Run naturally on packed snow and ice with the Yaktrax Run's combination of removable spikes and steel coils, providing 360° of unbeatable traction. Continue your training during the winter with the same stability you are accustomed to on dry surfaces. The Yaktrax Run can be worn in temperatures as low as -41° Fahrenheit.
Why I like Yaktrax RUN:
I could have used a pair this time...
(Failed attempt at waterproofing my shoes last winter..)
I can't resist an opportunity to run through the white stuff!
I will be READY for you this year, snow.
Bring on the winter weather!!
- Makes your regular running shoes safe for snow and ice
- More fun trail running, outdoors, (Less time poking your eyes out on a treadmill)
- Durable enough to be worn from snow to pavement (or gravel) back to snow.
- Come in several sizes
- Listed in Outside Magazine, as one of the top winter running items for 2013.
Since we have no snow here yet, I tested mine on gravel and on a slick wooden bridge.
They definitely provided traction. They added a little weight to my feet, but not much. (That's the price you pay for safe snow/ice running). And, it was possible for me to maintain proper running form in them

ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of winter running but as long as I'm bundled up, it's fun to hit the snow for a few miles.
ReplyDeleteI follow:)
ReplyDeleteWinter running is my favorite. Love the cold.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love running the morning after a snow... when the sun makes the snow sparkle and that 'crunch' sound as you run through the fresh snow :D
I LOVE running in the snow! It makes you feel like a little kid again, it's pretty, as long as you keep moving you stay warm, and people who don't do it think it's kind of crazy and tough. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd of course I follow your blog. :)
We've had zero snow, so I haven't gotten to try my Yaktrax either - I'm hoping they stay in the box this winter! :) Nice idea to test them on the gravel and slick bridge.
ReplyDeleteI love my yaktrax- they have been a great investment for me!
ReplyDeleteI signed up for your posts! And I love winter running because it keeps me sane! Gotta get outside and get the blood flowing, even in the snow or I go a little stir crazy...
ReplyDeleteOh, and I am posting this to Running by THE BOOK's Facebook site and my twitter account too, so that others will read and comment!
ReplyDeleteRaina, why are you giving these away? You guys get snow there. :)
ReplyDeleteI am keeping mine! Even though we don't get much snow...I hope to get up to Diamond Lake this winter. Thought that readers might like some too :)
DeleteI follow and I posted this on Facebook :)
ReplyDeleteI have a love/hate relationaship with running in the snow. I hate the sharp cold feeling on my face when I first get outside, but I love the way the snow crunches under my feet. While I run, I love looking out and seeing the snow sparkle! But does it have to be so cold?? ;)
ReplyDeleteFollowing your blog... great stuff!
ReplyDeleteI love the peace and quiet of winter running after a new snow. Nothing better than leaving the first tracks down the trail after a good snowfall... especially in Yaktrax!

ReplyDeleteOh, and I think what I like most about winter running is that it makes me feel very badass! I like the crazy looks that I get from people driving past me in the warmth of their cars.
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome in the winter! And I can't believe I was not a "follower". Ha! I am now.
ReplyDeleteLove winter running, love running in the snow. Makes me feel invincible and peaceful.
How I wish I ran in a place where I needed Yaktrax! Love snow, but I live in Houston!
ReplyDeleteFollowing! :)
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't happen often here in Alabama, but I love an early morning run in the snow. I also love running during the holidays and looking at all the Christmas lights!
ReplyDeleteWhat super cool things, but I am not entering. First, it does not snow in Houston and it doesn't even rain here much anymore. I would just love to experience some winter weather in any form! Hope you are having a better week!

ReplyDeleteThis is my first year running winters!! Last year I stayed inside on the treadmill. This year I want to be outside and enjoy the snow!!
ReplyDeleteBeings it's been about 70 for an average here in Colorado this season, not sure I'll ever need those things, but I can always venture to the high country to test 'em out. So yep, I'm a follower (of course :)).
ReplyDeleteWhat a like most about winter running is that it's not HOT (well, unless it's 70, like it currently is ;)). I don't run well in the heat. I know, I know...you're thinking I don't run well - period - which is true. But maybe one day again! :)

ReplyDeleteI love winter running for many reasons--the beauty, the quiet, the cold (I hate hot weather and soak in the cold when I can) and the feeling that I am doing something other people find hard (but isn't!).
ReplyDeletePick me pick me! I would LOVE those Yak Traks, I have some cheap knockoffs and they always fall off! annoying!
ReplyDeleteI love winter running for so many reasons
ReplyDelete1. those perfect sunny 20 degree days with the snow reflecting like a million little diamonds are so peacful
2. running in a snowstorm.. also peaceful
3. makes me doubly appreciate spring and fall and summer too!

Our winters don't get super cold, but I LOVE running when the air is crisp and cold and there's a light snow falling.

ReplyDeleteI am now following :)
ReplyDeleteI like winter running (mainly) because I hate summer running. Where I live, it is really hot in the summer, so I have to get up super early to run, or sweat it out later. Winter running lets me run later in the day. It's more enjoyable, because I don't fell like I'm going to colapse after 3miles ;)

ReplyDeleteWinter running is more peaceful than in the summer heat. Plus I feel hardcore when I'm out there getting it done.
ReplyDeletePs, just started following, found your blog through the 5kaday challenge! I hope you've been able to streak so far!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found me on Michael's blog! I am enjoying the streak so far :) This will beat my longest streak, if I make it the whole month.
DeleteWhat a great giveaway! We didn't have much snow last year, but I'm sure that will change. I would love to win. I follow your blog!
ReplyDeleteWell I have to admit, I don't like much about Winter running....but I will say that after the HOT summers, it's nice to have the cold air on your skin...at least for a little while. But then I'm ready for summer again :)
ReplyDeleteWow fabulous giveaway! And all stuff I NEED for winter running here in Chi-town! Not sure how I've survived as long as I have without slipping and breaking my behind actually.
ReplyDeleteRaina,
ReplyDeleteI feel guilty signing up - but you asked. I follow!
btw - I hope that you have a pair of those wicked things for yourself.?.?

ReplyDeleteWhat's NOT to love about winter running? I love the snow and the cold and not feeling like I want to die of heat exhaustion after my run :)
ReplyDeleteI follow! I like the peacefulness of a snowy day, although I won't be seeing those in Tx... :)

ReplyDeleteI love running in the winter, the air is so much crisper and there is very little sound. It's fun to get up early in the morning and be the first to lay tracks in the snow. I like running in the winter over any other season, maybe because the rest of the days activities are typically done indoors.

ReplyDeleteBest thing about winter running is when you're a mile or two into a run on a freezing cold day, and you feel toasty and warm, but not too hot. I also love how crisp and clear the sky can be on a sunny winter day.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part about winter running is after I've warmed up and the cold air starts to feel good. Until then, I dread it!

ReplyDeleteBest thing about winter running is the peacefulness and quiet on a snowy day. I also like that they few fellow runners you encounter always give at least a friendly smile, if not a wave or nod. I love winter runs! Thanks for having this giveaway, I'd love to try the new yaktrax.
