This COMEBACK is brought to you by Girl Scout Cookies. Day 27 of 30

Have I found the secret fuel of champions? Or a sneaky race weight saboteur? I WILL find out.

On a funny note: I noticed I had my PR for the 10K listed wrong yesterday on my blog and I fixed it. Haha! I am only a little embarrassed that I had my goal instead of my PR there. Oops!  Just thinking positively....

And in training news:

It's a little early to call it a comeback yet.  =D   But, I RAN.

Five nervous miles Tuesday and 7 again on Wednesday.  Slower than slow- a full minute/mile slower than my easy pace pre-injury.  And I didn't self destruct.

The perfectionist in me was unhappy with the choppiness and slowness, the uncooperative foot. The Lord reminded me that we don't always get "perfect".  Running, perfectly or not, is a gift to be grateful for.

My ankle/heel took about 3 miles to get comfortable. Then my hips and calves and quads started speaking. "We have enjoyed a little vacation and don't want to get on board this train."  I coaxed a bit more from them and then let them stop, all the while remembering that the foot might join their protest later.

I worried. I prayed. I stretched a bit after 12 minutes of running.

The second day I was sore.

Not so much in the foot- that seems to be doing ok- not perfect, but runnable. The hips and calves again.
I have lost fitness. You can't expect to take three weeks off without losing it. I'm GOING to get it back. Maybe not in time for this race, but that's OK with me. I am running again!!!

Nathan: "Why are Girl Scout cookies so much better, Mom?"
Me: "Because there's a Girl Scout baked in every one." =D

For Believers:During Boston registration I prayed that if I were not supposed to go that I would not get in.
Over the duration of this injury, I have come to understand that perhaps my reason for going to Boston is not even related at all to running. Maybe there is another reason I am "supposed" to go. I am not sure what that is, but I am excited to see how the Lord uses this trip. I am ready to be His instrument again.

30 Day Husband Encouragement Challenge
From emails I signed up to receive to become a better encourager to my husband:

"Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the LORD." (Psalm 31:24)

You have almost completed the "30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge." Perhaps it has taken you a tremendous amount of courage to speak words of encouragement consistently to your husband. Courage comes as we place our trust in God. Have faith that God will continue to work long after your encouraging words have been shared.

There are lots of "tough guys" in the world, but true courage comes from the Lord. Does your husband exhibit the courage to take an unpopular stand, perhaps even to stand alone against evil? Is he courageous in his faith? Does he work hard to change injustice? Is he a stickler for the truth? Does he protect you or your family from the attacks of the Enemy?

Psalm 27:14 says this kind of courage comes from "waiting" on the Lord for His strength. If your budget allows, "award" your husband with a medal, trophy, framed picture of a brave knight, or some other token that represents his courage as a man of God. Praise evidences of your husband's courage in protecting you, your marriage, your family, or your home.

This seems like a good area to give encouragement in, but I will have to be creative...I can't imagine getting a trophy for Jon for his courage..Hmm....thinking.. He'd like cookies as a reward better . :)
