Muddy River / Day 28 of the challenge / 30 days to Boston!?!

The river is a bit high here after a few days of heavy rainfall. And muddy. That makes it not-so-good for fishing Chinook, but still VERY interesting for looking at. Debris and logs and all sorts of random things float down at high speeds.

This is a turn-around spot for some of my double digit runs. I haven't seen it in a while- might not for a while yet (while running).
Across the water here, you can see the small town I live near, nestled in by the trees.
The concrete structure at the river's edge is the remains of the old bridge, washed out in the 1960's.

Playing "drop sticks" never gets old.

For believers:
As part of a challenge I am taking to be a better encourager to my husband, I signed up to receive some emails with practical advice.

Day 28
"The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility." (Proverbs 15:33)

Sometimes, when we just "know" we are right and our husbands are wrong, (UM...have they been in my house????) it takes great humility to honor them. It is difficult to speak well of our husbands when our own hearts are puffed up with pride.

As part of your challenge today, pray that you will respond to the Lord in faith and humility before you react to your husband. Speak wisely and well, and leave the results to God.

The humility that comes from a right relationship with God--the humility that comes when a man is willing to listen to God and be taught from His Word--is indeed a beautiful quality. Jesus was an example of this kind of humility when he was willing to submit to His Father's will (John 6:38; Matthew 26:39).

Does your husband have that kind of humility? Is he willing to learn from and submit to direction from the Lord? Let your husband know how precious this is to your marriage relationship.

Training stuff:
Ran 10 miles today.

I felt like an old lady after about three. That's OK with me! Old lady running beats NO running. I might end up running with those old ladies anyway, in about....30 days.

Quads were tired, L calf a little sore (will roll out today). Ankle had no problem, but weirdness under my heel. Me no-likey that. I took an ice bath. Overall...a hard workout at a VERY easy pace. Felt better than the last two runs.

Little scenarios and strategies float around in my mind as I consider the best course for the next 30 days.

Conversations snippets in my mind as I ran today:

"You need to be cautious. You don't want to end up injured again."
"Raina, you are capable of more than you think you are."

"Lord, thank you for letting me run again. Please heal me quickly."
"Oh, never mind, God. Whatever your will is, please let me be your instrument."

My hubby is running a consistent 2 to 3 times a week and riding the stationary bike. I LOVE it! He's down to 195 and is looking goooood. SO proud.

His run today went up a logging road I won't run up- it's very steep- and he was gone for 2 hours. Some of it was walking, but he can go on the flat ground for the same time and is coming back totally recharged from his runs. I am thrilled with his new decision to embrace life and take time to exercise (among other things)!
