November stats: Shrinking numbers (comments closed)

This one is just for the books.

November was a drop in mileage and hours spent running for me.
Miles: 192.5 mi
Hours: 26:10:44

The sacrifice of time on the road was centered around tapering and recovering from the two races I ran: the Run To Stay Warm half marathon, and the Turkey Trot four days later. In my head, I know that dropping miles is critical for me to race well. The cut was worth it!

Other stats:
Rest days: 7 ...What?? yes- seven.
Races: 2 one half marathon, one last-minute 4-miler.
Weight room days: 7 (need to work on this, but this mostly had to do with races. There was some laziness too)
Easy (or warm up) runs: 20 some were very short
Interval sessions: 2, but I would put the fartlek session into this category to make 3.
Threshold sessions: 2, but there was a tiny bit of T pace in the fartlek run, too.
Highest mileage week: 66 (first week in Nov., part of Oct.)
Lowest mileage week: 30 (week before the half)

Bring on the higher miles again... Easy running and safe, realistic (for me), building of volume will be the rest of my December and 2011 running goal.

2011 Jan1-Dec6
Total miles 2306.1
Total hours 316:16:01

2010 stats
Total miles: 2,589.1
Total hours: 360:20:40

Sure am glad I never made a mileage goal for 2011, because this would really bug me. Three more weeks left to 2011 and I have no plan to try and match last year's volume. :) That's OK. It means I won't be trying to run doubles 4 days a week just for the satisfaction of a particular number on 12/31. I did something crazy like that in 2009 and decided NEVER again. Haha.

Ah...God has been good to allow me to run without injury and have so much fun racing this month!

What I run, What I burn, What I eat

Random post warning!

Also included, (but not limited to) : tuna, protein powder (plain & bulk), elk meat, venison, ham, cucumbers, apples (by the box), hummus, lots and lots of bread, peaches & pears.

I REALLY don't know why I made this post.
I am NOT a foodie. I do like to eat, though. I am an omnivore...

Milk is probably 20% of my diet. It would be interesting to see for sure.
But I have no desire to keep track =D .

We have two refrigerators -one is mostly for milk so we don't run out.
(This never used to be a problem, but we have kiddos who drink it- then I started to about 2 years ago)

Oh....and I forgot popcorn!

I go into food jags (for breakfast, lunch & snacks), until I get bored or the kids start to complain. Dinner is where I serve most of the vegetables..except for the smoothies with spinach.

When I am baaaaad, and there are no more chocolate chips, I mix up cocoa powder with sugar and butter and eat it plain. Yep.

But I put stevia in my coffee, because I don't want to run on straight sugar first thing in the morning. :)

Stats from week 9-12 Boston training, Day 30 & a song

Training stuff:
Excluding the months of June and July almost 2 years ago when Levi was born, these have to be the strangest stats I have had.  All runs were "easy"... a few bike doubles, one 50+ mile bike ride on the balcony that left me with a sore knee... It's shaping up to be an "interesting" training cycle.

My mission, at the moment, is to run only easy runs until I have a "green light." I still feel like I am on a "yellow", but I am enjoying running again.

For believers
Thanks for reading along with me and providing affirmation to me as I posted each of the daily challenge posts.  It has been a blessing!
I received this email yesterday:

Congratulations on completing the 30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge!

How has this challenge changed your heart and life? Did God encourage you as you planned ways to encourage your husband? Were there difficult days where you simply needed to trust that God was working?

Remember that God is faithful, and He will bless you for your willingness to obey Him. His ways are not our ways, and perhaps He will honor you in ways you do not expect, but one thing is sure: you will never be the same because of your commitment to be more like Christ!

What kinds of victories have you experienced in your home since you started the "30-Day Husband Encouragement Challenge"? Please take a moment to share these victories with us at: http://www.reviveourhearts.com/interact/contactus.htm

Some Stats, The Alphabet Thing & Day 18

Thanks to those of you who are emailing me and commenting asking about my training and how I am doing with "things". I am doing much better dealing with this than I would have last year. Things really could be much worse than they are.

Today I went on another "test run" . I made it about 50 yards and slowed to a walk. Slight pain in the ankle and fear controls my thoughts. What if it's something worse than a strain or tendonitis? What if I kept on running despite it? Should I just wait it out, or am I just being a wimp. It's not that it hurts very badly, it's just that I don't want to go backwards or get a compensation injury.

And then I start to wonder...should I get some arch supports?

What if I never run again until race day? Will I have any tendon strength anywhere else?

Would going in to a podiatrist be cost effective and helpful right now? Have I misdiagnosed this thing?

AHHHH. I hate sounding like a whiner and I know there are such bigger things to be concerned about in the world.

Really, I should not let this consume me. I need to be "alive and present" the rest of the day. My kids and husband deserve it.

If anything, my sister and I will have a great vacation Patriot's Day weekend.

*EDIT*
I just read another blog and realized that the remainder of my Boston training falls during Lent (thanks Andrew).  Something else for me to think about.

Husband Encouragement Challenge -
I signed up to receive daily emails as a project to become a better encourager to my husband.

Day 18

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10)

Are you a wise woman? Do you open your mouth with wisdom, as Proverbs 31:26 suggests? As you continue in your 30-day challenge, remember that a wise woman encourages her husband. (Oops...hahaha...not wise..trying to learn to be, though!)

Is your husband a "wise man?" Does he have a godly perspective that comes from knowing God and walking with Him in obedience? Does he have a sense of purpose for his life and vision for your home? Tell him how much this means to you.

If you are not sure about your husband's vision for your home, ask him, "Honey, what do you want to accomplish with our marriage and home in the years to come?" and "How can I help you accomplish that?"
(Even if I am sure - or have a good idea anyway- Jon would probably like to talk about this.)

If he does not have a vision, your questions may inspire him to develop one.
If your husband is not walking with God--or perhaps, does not know the Lord--you have the opportunity and responsibility to practice your faith and create a thirst for God. Thank God for giving your husband a place in his heart that only He can fill, and keep praying that he will turn to the Lord to fill that vacuum!
